Lucca is a gem of Tuscany (Toscana)  unfortunately overshadowed by the most famous Siena, Florence (Firenze) and Pisa.

So our first stop over has been really a great discovery and it was love at first sight. For this reason we’ve decided that one our way back from Sicily we’ll spend in Lucca a couple of weeks in order to get the real feeling of the city.

The main reason why we love Lucca is because it is quieter than the other tuscan’s cities but still has all the charm of a medieval feeling with roots from the Roman Empire.

Of course Florence offers more but after living in London for 10 years, we feel more connected with slow pace places than crazy ones with hundreds of thousands of tourists.

Restaurant in Lucca: Osteria San Francesco

Osteria San Francesco, Piazza San Francesco, 33, Lucca, Italy

phone: +39 0583 057633

In our quick stop in Lucca we had Lunch in the Osteria San Francesco and  guess where? Yes, S. Francesco Square!!

The lunch was simply and fast and we can recommend the place easily considering the quality of the food and priced paid (around 40 euros).

Families tips:

The restaurant Osteria San Francesco has a high chair for babies. There is no kids menu so we paid full price for the ravioli (italian dim sum filled usually with meat)  ordered for Oscar.

My opinion about the restaurant:

This time we just stopped in Lucca for few hours so we didn’t stay in an Hotel. We’ll keep you updated when we’ll be visiting Lucca again in November 2016 and we’ll publish and update regarding the hotel.

Playground in Lucca: Opendoor from 15 months

Via Bacchettoni 7, Lucca, Italy

Lucca has a beautiful playground just inside the old wall (vecchie mura) of the historic center of the city.

The Playground is quite nice considering how big it is and that there is a lot of space for the children to run. I’ve to say that it isn’t the safest in the world considering that there are no gates or barriers and so children must be supervised all the time.
