There are plenty of places to visit in Sicily and the majority of them are super famous: Agrigento, Taormina, Palermo, Noto, Ragusa, Ortygia just to name a few.

However there are even more places that you have never heard of that actually are even more beautiful than what you could expect.

Cefalù is definitely a place that delivers much more than you’ll expect, especially if you think that it is still possible to swim at the end of October, beginning of November. During our 3 weeks stay, the temperatures were an average of 20 degrees during the day and 14 at night! AMAZING!

During this period Cefalù wasn’t packed of tourist and actually a lot of restaurants ended their season in October/November so your choice are getting limited.

This is one of the biggest mistakes made by the locals that don’t understand how lucky they are to have such lovely weather even in November. For example today, 22nd of November, there are still 21 degrees in Cefalù during the day whilst the rest of Italy is getting closer to the 10 degrees mark and in London we are already at 5 degrees in the evening.

Of course Cefalù will change completely its face during peak season and it is better to be avoided considering the high temperatures and huge crowd of tourist visiting the place even for one day.

Apartment In Cefalù - Casa Blu

We stayed roughly 20 Days in Cefalù so we decided to book an apartment with airbnb. Our first apartment didn’t really met our requirements and on after only 1 day we decided to move in another flat.

This time the flat was really good especially because in October the streets weren’t so busy.  The flat, besides being in the Old part of the city, it was also 1 minute walk from the beach.

Families tips:

Almost every old town and historic center in Italy have the big downside of not having a lift. This means that a lot of apartments are on the 2nd-3rd floor and you’ll have to go up and down quite a lot of staircases.

Our flat was on the first floor and also had a really large staricase. Always check with the owner where the flat is located and if it offers easy access with pushchairs and similar.

Restaurants in Cefalù: not high level of cuisine unfortunately

We tried almost all the restaurants in Cefalù and the food was between average and almost good. None of them were really standing out.

Playground in Cefalù: Opendoor from 15 months

Super great playground at the “Villa”. Ask around to the locals and they’ll be able to show you where is located.
